Buatsi booed on the scales, then makes weight for Hutchinson rematch
Joshua Buatsi needed a second try to make weight for tonight’s WBC light heavyweight title rematch with Willy Hutchinson in Manchester.
Joshua Buatsi was an ounce over the light heavyweight limit at Friday’s weigh-in. He stepped back on the scales and made 175 lb at the second attempt.
Hutchinson’s supporters booed Buatsi on stage at the ceremonial weigh-in, and Buatsi cupped his ears and encouraged the jeers. Hutchinson later made a dig about Buatsi being overweight when the pair came face to face.
The rematch was first set for the WBC interim title. It is now for the full WBC belt after David Benavidez gave it up to move up to cruiserweight.
The fight is tonight at the AO Arena in Manchester, live on DAZN.
