Canelo vs Mbilli still on for Halloween in Riyadh

Despite the attack on Riyadh's airport and other events being postponed, Canelo Alvarez vs Christian Mbilli for the WBC super middleweight title remains set for October 31.

Canelo Alvarez is still set to fight Christian Mbilli for the WBC super middleweight title in Riyadh on October 31.

That is despite Riyadh's airport being bombed earlier this month and other sports events in the city being postponed. The attack on King Khalid International Airport killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300, badly disrupting international travel.

THE SHOW GOES ON

Organisers say the event will go ahead, with fight week starting next week. For security reasons, the commentators and broadcast team will work from a London studio instead of travelling to Riyadh. Mbilli's promoter says he is very confident the fight happens.

THE FIGHT

Canelo, 36, comes back as the challenger against a 31-year-old unbeaten pressure fighter. Mbilli is 29-0-1 with 24 KOs. Canelo is 63-3-2 with 39 KOs and hasn't fought since losing to Terence Crawford.

The card streams on DAZN pay-per-view.
