Jake Paul is coming back, broken jaw and all. Tommy Fury is the target
Ten months after Anthony Joshua broke his jaw, Jake Paul wants a rematch with Tommy Fury. Fury says: see you in 2027.
Jake Paul is planning to fight again, less than a year after the worst night of his career.
In December 2025, Anthony Joshua knocked Paul out in the sixth round in Miami and broke his jaw. Paul needed reconstructive surgery, with metal fitted to rebuild the jaw, and reports say his doctor advised him not to return to the ring. He has chosen to carry on anyway.
HIS TEAM WANTS TOMMY FURY
Paul's promoter, Nakisa Bidarian of Most Valuable Promotions, says the opponent that "makes the most sense" is Tommy Fury, the man who handed Paul his first loss with a split decision in Saudi Arabia in February 2023. Bidarian said Paul was cleared to spar from mid-September and is aiming to return at the end of 2026, possibly slipping to January.
FURY: SEE YOU NEXT YEAR
The rematch talks have already turned personal. After Paul took a shot at John Fury online, Tommy Fury hit back in September, defending his father and saying he is busy in December but available from January to May 2027. "I'll see you boys next year if you're serious about the fight," he said.
THE BIGGER PLAN
Bidarian has said Paul's main goal is to become a cruiserweight world champion, and that he still wants to try MMA within the next year and a half. Paul has also called out Canelo Álvarez, claiming a $200 million offer, though Canelo has not accepted.
THE RECORD
Jake Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) has lost only to Tommy Fury and Anthony Joshua. Before the Joshua fight, he beat Julio César Chávez Jr. on points in June 2025.
