Olympic king Jalolov goes 18-0 on the Dubois card, O'Doherty keeps his belts in a draw
Two-time Olympic champion Bakhodir Jalolov beat Solomon Dacres on points. Louie O'Doherty kept his British and Commonwealth titles with a draw against Michael Gomez Jnr.
Daniel Dubois stole the show at The O2 on Saturday, but he was not the only big name on the card. A two-time Olympic champion was in action too, and one of Britain's best young lightweights nearly lost his belts.
JALOLOV GOES 18-0, BUT NO KNOCKOUT
Bakhodir Jalolov, the 6 ft 7 in Uzbek giant who won Olympic gold at super heavyweight in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, beat Britain's Solomon Dacres on points over 10 rounds. The judges had it 99-91, 99-90, 99-90, so Jalolov won almost every round.
The win keeps him unbeaten, but critics wanted more. Before the fight, Bad Left Hook's John Hansen said Jalolov has "practically stood still" as a pro, and that the fight would only be a real test if Dacres could push him. Dacres went the full 10 rounds, and Jalolov has now gone the distance in three of his last four fights. With a new Olympic cycle starting, some think he may go back to chase a third gold.
O'DOHERTY KEEPS HIS BELTS WITH A DRAW
In the chief support, unbeaten Louie O'Doherty defended his British and Commonwealth lightweight titles for the first time against former British super featherweight champion Michael Gomez Jnr. After 12 hard rounds, it was a majority draw: 114-114, 114-114, and one card 115-114. O'Doherty keeps both belts and is still unbeaten, but a rematch looks likely.
THE REST OF THE CARD
Unbeaten Nelson Birchall dropped Levi Giles three times and stopped him in round 7. Heavyweight Adam Olaniyan put Dan Garber down twice and finished him in round 2.
THE RECORDS
Bakhodir Jalolov (18-0, 15 KOs) is still unbeaten. Solomon Dacres (10-2) lost for the second time. Louie O'Doherty (12-0-1) is still unbeaten.
