Jena Bishop gets her revenge on Liz Carmouche and becomes PFL's first women's flyweight champion

Jena Bishop lost to Liz Carmouche in last year's PFL tournament final. In Chicago this week, she got the rematch and took the belt.

A CLOSE FIVE-ROUNDER

Bishop beat Carmouche by unanimous decision, 48-47 on all three scorecards, in the main event at Wintrust Arena. The fight was for the first PFL women's flyweight world championship, so Bishop is the division's first title holder.

Their first fight, in the 2025 tournament final, ended with Carmouche stopping Bishop in the third round. Bishop still disputes that stoppage. This time she says extra wrestling work late in camp made the difference.

"PERFORMATIVE NONSENSE"

During fight week, footage showed Carmouche getting her hair cut off before the weigh-in. Both women made weight, Carmouche at 125 pounds and Bishop at 124.6.

Asked about it after the fight, Bishop did not hold back. She called the haircut "performative nonsense" and said it had nothing to do with the result.

WHAT'S NEXT

No date has been set for Bishop's first title defence. When asked about Dakota Ditcheva, Bishop wished her a good recovery and said she just wanted to enjoy the win for now.

KHIZRIEV STAYS UNBEATEN

In the co-main event, featherweight Timur Khizriev kept his perfect record with a split decision over Gabriel Braga (29-28, 29-28, 28-29). On the same card, bantamweight Sarvarjon Khamidov knocked out Rafael do Nascimento in 1:49 to move to 18-1.

THE RECORDS

Jena Bishop is now 12-3. Liz Carmouche, a former UFC title challenger and long-time Bellator champion, falls to 26-9. Timur Khizriev is 19-0 and Gabriel Braga is 17-4.
