Mike Malott knocks out Joaquin Buckley with a knee in front of his home crowd

Canada's Mike Malott finished Joaquin Buckley in the second round in Edmonton, his fifth win in a row. Jasmine Jasudavicius beat Erin Blanchfield, and the card tied two UFC stoppage records.

Mike Malott gave the Edmonton crowd exactly what it came for. The Canadian welterweight stopped Joaquin Buckley with a knee to the chin in the second round of Saturday's main event at Rogers Place.

HOW IT ENDED

Buckley is one of the hardest punchers at 170 pounds, and many expected him to test Malott early. Instead, Malott found the finish midway through the second round. A knee caught Buckley on the chin, and the referee stopped it at 2:32 of round two.

It is Malott's fifth straight win, all of them in Canada, and his second main event in a row that he has finished. He is likely to break into the top 10 when the rankings are updated.

JASUDAVICIUS BEATS BLANCHFIELD

In the co-main event, Canada's Jasmine Jasudavicius beat Erin Blanchfield by unanimous decision, 29-28 on all three cards. It is the biggest win of her career and her seventh in her last eight fights. It also puts her name in the conversation for a rematch with flyweight champion Natalia Silva.

The fight was meant to happen at UFC 330 in August, but Blanchfield pulled out injured and it was moved to Edmonton.

A RECORD-TYING NIGHT

The judges were barely needed. The first 11 fights all ended early, and 12 of the 13 bouts finished inside the distance. That ties the UFC records for most finishes in a row to start a card and most finishes at one event.

Other highlights: Cristian Perez knocked out Kyle Nelson in 27 seconds on his UFC debut. Marc-Andre Barriault, 36, stopped Kyle Daukaus in the first round. Timmy Cuamba got his first UFC submission with a rear-naked choke on Louis Jourdain, and Mandel Nallo stopped Nate Landwehr to open the main card.

THE RECORDS

Mike Malott is now 15-2-1. Joaquin Buckley falls to 21-9. Jasmine Jasudavicius moves to 16-4, and Erin Blanchfield is 14-3.
